Triggerfinger is a fiery three piece from Antwerp consisting of real characters: guitarist and singer Ruben Block, drummer Mario Goossens, and bassist Paul Van Bruystegem. I particularly like this magnificent, minimalist live cover of I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li, using only guitars, a knife and some cups.

When I was a kid, I would always doodle wherever I could (and sometimes do even now). Child’s Own Studio takes a step further in producing a kid’s imagination, turning their drawings into one-of-a-kind soft toys. For a kid, seeing their drawings come to life must be a most rewarding feeling. Read more

My brother just got back from Tignes having done his second ski season. This isn’t a bad effort at transmitting just how much fun he and his friends have had for the last six months. The tricks that these amateur boarders pull are out of this world. Enjoy the soundtrack and watch fullscreen.

These Italian twill silk scarves are part of a limited-edition run by London based visual artist Misha Milovanovich. Misha cites travel, 60s prints, Allen Ginsberg’s poetry, Pop Art, Jazz music and New York as her inspiration, and claims to ‘spin, rhyme, mix and scratch her colours and patterns like a Voodoo Hip Hop artist on substances known to alter cognition and perception’. Accompanying artist babble aside, the scarfs are pretty great. Read more

Heading over to Metropolis for a vacation to check out Superman’s stomping ground isn’t quite feasible yet, and the shuttle to Gotham City hasn’t yet commenced. But you can get these vintage travel posters for your wall. Dave Ault’s illustrations, covering Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and more DC Comics heroes, give you a minimalist mid-century travel feel. Read more

We love the voyeuristic thrill of these photos by Gentle Giant that ran on the Retronaut website and reveal a vibrant, thriving, bustling New York in 1971 that looks vaguely similar to the New York that I experienced between 2006 and 2011. Minus the beehive hairdoes, flares, and the big red phone booths, of course. Read more

On March 15, Austria’s Felix Baumgartner jumped out of a space capsule from an altitude of approximately 71,580 feet as the Red Bull Stratos project moved forward into the manned flight stage in New Mexico. The 42 year-old rode the space capsule attached to a giant helium balloon above the so-called Armstrong Line. The goal of the Red Bull Stratos project is to see Baumgartner attempt a record-breaking freefall from 120,000 feet this summer, where he’ll potentially become the first man to go supersonic without the support of a vehicle.

Marcus Oakley was asked to draw an artwork about London. In his own interpretation of the city, we can discover a classic London twisted in a new school collage style. For only 12 euros, the 50x70cm poster printed on art paper 170g/m2 is available at Human Empire. Sounds like London is calling.

My friend Lenka Kripac, formerly of Aussie group Decoder Ring, now flying solo, has just released her debut single — The Show — and it’s as catchy a slice of pop hedonism as you’re ever going to hear. Be warned: one listen and you may never shake the melody.
